Great GCSE Results for our Year 11 students
Esher Church of England High School is delighted to report some outstanding results by its students in their GCSE and vocational qualifications this summer. Students received their grades this morning and are justifiably pleased with their achievements.
Amy R, Bo B and Jack C each achieved ten, nine and seven grade 9 GCSEs respectively with other great outcomes in other subjects. Overall, our students’ grades were of a similar level to last year with a slight increase in the number of students achieving the highest grades, which is encouraging for them.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades which considered a wide range of evidence of student knowledge and understanding. Our students have had to work in incredibly difficult circumstances needing to be independent, tenacious, respond to changing demands quickly and keep a broad perspective. They have all done this brilliantly, learning important life-skills along the way and their qualifications recognise this.
Mr Boddington, Headteacher, said: “We are very pleased to report the excellent outcomes our students achieved this summer, which was built on their hard work and great attitude over the recent tumultuous period. Every student should feel proud of their achievements which reflect their knowledge and skills developed over a long period of time and which were thoroughly assessed. Throughout it all they have kept their focus, approached every challenge positively and worked alongside each other and their teachers brilliantly. They have been supported by our fantastic team of teaching and support staff who have adapted to the demands of national lockdowns and in-school assessment with the highest level of professionalism.”
