The vision for Esher Church of England High School is for everyone in our school community to “Belong, Be More and Be Esher. “
By belonging we mean that every child and adult is welcome in our school as a unique person, they have identity and are unconditionally loved.
Through being more we communicate our ambition in every aspect of their development: academic, social, wider curricular, relational, so that they can flourish both now and in the future.
Being Esher reflects the way in which we embrace our responsibility to the wider world to be an agent for social equity and a thriving community.
We believe that education is about far more than just academic success; it is about shaping young people into individuals of strong character, compassion and ambition. These values are at the heart of all we do, guiding our students to grow in confidence, strive for brilliance, and contribute positively to the world around them. We bring this to life through our Christian vision: ‘Belong, Be More, Be Esher’ - a call for every student to be their own person, aspire to great things, and make a difference in their communities and wider world.
Our amazing team provide an inspiring and ambitious curriculum that enables our students to flourish - academically, personally, and spiritually. Our students leave with outstanding qualifications, enriched experiences, and the character to thrive as compassionate, responsible, and courageous young people. In our most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2022), we were judged a securely ‘Good’ school, a reflection of our unwavering commitment to high expectations, support, and opportunity for all.
Our school is blessed with a beautiful campus and modern facilities, creating an environment where students can truly thrive. We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that every student grows in confidence and integrity, ready to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
Please take a moment to watch our school video, which offers a glimpse into the vibrant, inspiring environment we have built for our students and staff.
We look forward to welcoming you and hope that you will become part of our Esher High School community.

I enjoy that, unlike primary school, every subject is taught in full depth and very clearly. This helps me learn more. There are also many extra-curricular activities and every student is welcome to join in any club. All the teachers are nice and it’s a fun environment to be in.
I really enjoy my time at Esher High School. The new school year has brought many opportunities, as COVID 19 restrictions have been eased. The teachers clearly put a lot of time into their lessons and I never fail to be engaged by them. The school is really welcoming and it has some amazing facilities for everyone to use.
During my time here at Esher High School, I have grown both as a teacher and a leader. The school’s commitment to my professional development has played a huge role in shaping my teaching practice and leadership skills. Through high-quality CPD opportunities, I have been able to refine my approach in the classroom and help students improve their academic progress, while also taking on new responsibilities that allow me to support both students and my colleagues effectively. As a Religious Education teacher, I love helping students develop their own sense of purpose and moral compass while exploring different perspectives. Teaching Citizenship has also been incredibly rewarding, as it empowers students to understand and engage with society in a meaningful way. Our school’s warm/strict approach creates an environment where students feel encouraged, supported and safe. High expectations, combined with strong relationships, help them to thrive academically and personally. The school is deeply committed to inclusivity, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported in both their learning and wellbeing. This same culture of support extends to staff, and I have felt it firsthand in my journey as a middle leader. The encouragement I have received to develop my skills and take on new challenges has been invaluable to my team and the students. Esher High School is a place that reflects, evolves, and truly supports its community—professionally, academically, and pastorally. Whether you are a teacher looking to grow in your career or a student eager to learn in a supportive environment, this school provides a strong foundation for success, and I am honoured to be part of it.
I joined Esher High School in September 2024 and from the moment I stepped into the building, I felt welcomed and wanted here. The acceptance and value that leadership show to staff is mirrored in the way the school is run and in the principles that we instil in the students. Being a head of year means I get to be responsible for my year group's interactions and their journey at Esher High School - this has shown me first hand the difference that we make, and I can see the values we talk about every day coming out in the most subtle ways. My year group make me proud to be a head of year, and I know that they represent all the hard work we do here; especially the focus we place on getting to know each student individually which is at the heart of everything we do. Esher High School is a wonderful place where students and staff alike can thrive, in a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Working at Esher High School since November 2024 has been a truly rewarding experience. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by a team that’s passionate about what they do. As part of the support staff, I’ve come to really appreciate how every role, whether that be front-facing or behind the scenes, contributes to the smooth running of the school and the success of our students. Every day, I see first-hand how staff go above and beyond to support students, families, and one another. It’s inspiring to be part of a school that not only values excellence but also kindness, warmth, and growth. I’m proud to contribute to something so positive every day.
I first started at Esher High as a student in 2006 and spent 5 years at the school before leaving for sixth form and further education. My time at Esher High was fantastic and wouldn’t have been possible without the great support of my teachers and support staff, many of whom are still here. After training to be a teacher, I decided to come back to the school, and it has been a great decision. Since my time, much of the school has changed with the addition of amazing new facilities the students can enjoy (and no cold outdoor swimming pool which is a bonus). While much has changed, I feel that the school community has remained the same, being supportive and aspirational. It has been wonderful to see the students grow and develop over my two years here both in academic and in extra-curricular activities, which staff team but in particular, our wonderful PE and performing arts departments work to facilitate. I am enjoying my time as a teacher of History and Head of House (hoping for a Mimosa win) and look forward to my future here.
